About the Luana Inn

Welcome to Luana Inn Bed and Breakfast and one of the most beloved areas of the Big Island of Hawai’i. At three hundred feet above sea level in the tranquil South Kona Kealakekua Bay Historical Reserve, the Inn is within walking distance of picturesque Kealakekua Bay and some of the most beautiful water in all the Hawaiian Islands. Perched hillside on a secluded lot up a private palm–lined drive, the Inn is surrounded by inviting island beauty: gracious grounds, mild weather, and a breathtakingly vast ocean view. Graced with understated modern interiors, four spacious guest rooms, and excellent amenities, Luana Inn offers an unforgettably relaxing experience in an area rich in Island spirit.

The Big Island is known for its wild, unspoiled natural beauty. From the parched plains of black lava rock at Volcanoes National Park, to the lush jungle of the Hamakua Coast; from the rolling stretches of misty green Waimea pastureland, to the crystal-clear sky of Mauna Kea; from the windswept Kohala Coast with its broad sand beaches, to the unearthly colors and shapes of Kona’s underwater world; from the wondrous flora and fauna that characterize paradise, to the pink sun setting over the glistening Pacific, the Island beckons both the adventurer and the seeker of solitude.

Located at the heart of the string of charming old villages (Honalo, Kealakekua, Kainaliu, Captain Cook and Honaunau) that make up South Kona, Luana Inn feels secluded and remote, yet is close to all guest comforts. It is a convenient and peaceful base from which to explore the entire island. The Inn is located twenty-four miles south of the Kailua-Kona airport in quiet South Kona down Napo’opo’o Road, the road that leads to Kealakekua Bay Marine Life Reserve and sacred Pu’uhonua o Honaunau City of Refuge National Park. Situated on lower Napo’opo’o Road, the Inn is within walking distance of rocky Napo’opo’o and Manini beaches, excellent for swimming, kayaking, and snorkeling, and within minutes of quiet, sandy Keei Beach and the City of Refuge. From world-class snorkeling at the Captain Cook Monument in Kealakekua Bay and at Two-Step near the City of Refuge, to kayaking, swimming, hiking, running, biking, bird and whale-watching, guests of Luana Inn are surrounded immediately with adventure potential. Returning to the Inn after days of exploration, guests are soothed by the sound of the distant surf, radiant sunsets, sweet birdsong, caressing ocean breezes, and quiet nights filled with stars.

Luana Inn is a place of relaxation and rejuvenation. We offer four immaculate, oversized guest rooms, each with its own private entrance, private bathroom, kitchenette, air conditioning unit, cable TV with DVD player, and wireless high speed internet access. Our amenities include an ocean-facing patio with beautiful round pool and hot tub (please note that the hot tub is currently under renovation), a wedding arch, property-wide wireless high speed internet access, guest workstation, guest common room, laundry and BBQ facilities, ample parking, on-site massage services, snorkel rental, daily maid service, and homemade breakfasts in an inviting, understated, tranquil setting.

In the spirit of aloha, we aim to provide a wonderful experience for our guests. Please contact us for additional information or for reservations.
